How to love classical music if you are not a musician? Personal experience of comprehension

When classical music was born, the phonograms did not exist. People came only to real concerts with live music. Would you like a book if you don’t read it, but approximately know the content? Is it possible to become a gourmet if there is bread and water on the table? Is it possible to love classical music if you have a superficial notion about it or not to listen at all? Not!

It is necessary to try to get the sensation of what he saw or heard the event in order to have an opinion. So classical music should be listened to at home or at concerts.

Better listening to music than standing in line.

In the seventies, radio broadcasts were often broadcast with classical music. I occasionally listened to excerpts from operas and almost loved classical music. But I always thought that this music should be even more beautiful if you visit a real concert in the theater.

Once I was very lucky. I was sent by the organization on a business trip to Moscow. In Soviet times, employees were often sent to advanced training in large cities. I was accommodated in a hostel of the Gubkin University. Roommates in their spare time occupied the queue for rare things. And in the evenings they boasted about fashionable shopping.

But it seemed to me that it was not worth spending time in the capital, idle in a huge queue for things. Fashion will pass in a year, but knowledge and impressions remain for a long time, they can be passed on to descendants. And I decided to see what the famous Bolshoi Theater is and try my luck there.

First visit to the Bolshoi Theater.

The venue in front of the theater was brightly lit. People crowded between giant pillars. Some asked for extra tickets, while others offered them. One young man in a gray jacket was standing near the entrance, he had several tickets. He noticed me and strictly ordered me to stand next to him, then took my hand and led me past the theater controllers for free.

The young man looked very modest, and the seats were in the box on the prestigious second floor. The view of the stage was perfect. There was an opera Eugene Onegin. The sounds of real live music reflected from the strings of the orchestra and harmonious waves spread from the stalls and between the balconies, rising to the magnificent old chandeliers.

In my opinion, to listen to classical music you need:

  • professional performance of musicians;
  • beautiful setting to present art;
  • special relationship between people in communication.

My companion went away several times on official business, and once he brought me a crystal glass of champagne. During the intermission, he talked about the theaters of Moscow. He said that he usually does not allow anyone to call him, but he can still take me to the opera. Unfortunately, twenty-five years ago there was no mobile communication and not every telephone could be reached.

Miraculous coincidences and surprises.

On the day of my arrival from Moscow to Rostov, I turned on the TV. According to the first program, the opera Eugene Onegin was shown. Was this a reminder of visiting the Bolshoi Theater or an unexpected coincidence?

They say that Tchaikovsky also had a wonderful coincidence with the heroes of Pushkin. He received a message with a declaration of love from the beautiful girl Antonina. Impressed by the read letter, he took up the work on the opera Eugene Onegin, who explained the story in the feelings of Tatyana Larina.

I ran to the pay phone, but never got through to my “prince”, who accidentally because of his good nature, made me feel like a Cinderella at someone else's ball. The impression of a real miracle of live music of professional performers of the Bolshoi Theater remained for the rest of my life.

I told this story to my children. They love to listen and rock. But they agree with me that you can love classical music, especially in a live performance. They made me a pleasant surprise, on the electric guitars they performed the classics all evening. Again, a feeling of admiration appeared in my soul when real, real sounds of works appeared in our house.

Classical music adorns our life, pleases and provides opportunities for interesting communication and rapprochement of different people by status and age. But you can't accidentally love her. To listen to live classical music you need to meet with her - it is advisable to choose the time, circumstances, environment and professional performance, and just come to a meeting with the music, as if to meet a dear person!
